Pantomime and Theatre

Theatre and Pantomime

We started in theatre and it will always be our first love. Eight-freestyle have designed, produced, written and staged shows at The Albert Hall, London Palladium, Birmingham ICC, Dancehouse Manchester and venues around the world.

We love all kinds of theatre, but Pantomime holds a very special place in our heart.

The Pantomimes are written, directed, produced, designed and choreographed by Sean Canning and his team and are a joyous mix of the modern and traditional. Our Manchester Panto has been a much-loved fixture of the Christmas season since 2013 and is back at the Contact theatre again in December 2022

June 2000 – International Chemotherapy Conference – Opening Ceremony, ICC

Taking the themes of Macrobiotic Resistance and Birmingham and combining them into a moving piece of theatre was just the sort of challenge I enjoy! I devised and co-wrote a script, which linked Darwin’s theories of Evolution to the ‘Lunar Society’ of 17th Century midlands scientists, industrialists and inventors (Watt, Wedgwood, Erasmus Darwin, etc) and on through time to Watson and Crick’s discovery of the DNA double helix. I devised, co-wrote, directed actors and video footage and called the show.
